Bio:
Brooke Scobie (she/they) lives on Darkinjung land as a queer First Nations single mum, writer, podcaster, business mentor, and dedicated artist manager. With over 15 years working in the community services sector and a half-decade within the arts, Brooke seamlessly marries their passion for creative expression with a profound understanding of the needs of community.
They have been published widely as a poet and writer, clinching 2nd place in the 2020 Judith Wright Poetry Prize and nominated as a finalist in the 2023 David Unaipon Award. She is a fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs and holds diplomas in Creative & Indigenous Writing and Management, augmented by an Associate Degree in Applied Social Science.
Her entrepreneurial spirit was evident when she founded and ran Kitty Demolition Beauty Services for over 5 years, expanding its reach from Sydney all the way to Cambodia. Through personal challenges and triumphs, Brooke Scobie’s work continues to resonate, leaving an indelible mark across multiple sectors.
