DESCRIPTION:Networking can be nerve-wracking\, but not when you have experts to help you! Designed to encourage creative people to get to know each other\, our Creative Business Networking event will acknowledge the scary nature of networking\, while teaching you how to get it just right. Creative Business Networking combines education with the opportunity to practice skills in a safe and friendly environment\, while embracing the discomfort of the whole process and having a laugh. You might even have some fun. \n\n\n\nSome of the fabulous and friendly Creative Plus Business facilitators will be in attendance\, saying hello and sharing one (or two) of their nifty networking tips to help you learn how to live your best networking life! \n\n\n\nWhat do I get? Participants are also encouraged to share their own experiences and network with their fellow practitioners. \n\n\n\nIdeal For: Curious hobbyists\, creative freelancers and businesses\, arts organisations. \n\n\n\nWho is presenting?Monica Davidson is an award-winning expert on the creative industries\, who began her professional life as a freelance journalist and filmmaker. In 2014 Monica completed her Masters degree in Screen Arts and Business at AFTRS\, and was appointed as the first NSW Creative Industries Business Advisor by the Department of Industry. Shortly after she founded the social enterprise Creative Plus Business\, which is dedicated to educating creative people about small business and marketing skills. In 2019\, Monica was awarded the QUT Creative Enterprise Australia award for being a Creative Trailblazer that “advocates\, mentors\, donates\, educates and advises within Australia’s creative economy”. Monica continues to work as a writer\, filmmaker and occasional performer. \n\n\n\nCat is a national and international creative producer with over 10 years’ experience producing dance\, theatre\, tours\, and festivals\, and has been published on ArtsHub on the subject. She has worked at major theatre companies across Australia\, Europe\, and the US and founded a theatre company in 2011\, producing many shows under this banner for mainstage companies\, festivals\, and large-scale national tours. During the quieter theatre moments of the last two years\, Cat has worked as a creative consultant\, story producer\, and screen development producer and looks forward to even more collaborative projects. \n\n\n\nCharley is Co-Artistic-Director of contemporary performance company House of Sand\, and a Theatre Artists and Realisateur (poncey french word that sort of just means “director” but more specifically means “person that makes it happen”). Her artistic work has taken her across directing\, dramaturgy\, performance\, teaching\, and producing for institutions including The Sydney Fringe (Programs Producer 2019-21)\, STC\, STCSA\, Opera Australia\, ActNow Theatre\, Adelaide College of Arts\, NIDA (Masters and Open Programs) and a slew of independent projects and companies.Qualified in business from The School Of Getting It Wrong And Correcting It Fast\, Charley is an expert in grant writing and management\, philanthropy\, team building\, and making it work with too few dollars. \n\n\n\nRhiannon Hopley is an award-winning photographer\, designer\, multidisciplinary artist\, and curator. She is an Artistic Associate\, and Digital Initiatives Lead for the global arts initiative\, Micro Galleries and founder and director of RH Photography & Design. Over a 17 year career\, Rhiannon has worked with a diverse range of creative practitioners\,NFP’s and businesses spanning various industries\, from the underground Sydney arts and music scene to contemporary galleries and high-end stage productions. Her approachcombines knowledge and empathetic understanding to the unique challenges within our industry. \n\n\n\nRosie Lourde is an award-winning creative working across a range of screen content. She was an actor/producer on hit digital series ‘Starting From Now’ and her directorial work includes the feature film “Romance On The Menu’ on Netflix. In 2015 Rosie was selected for the prestigious SPA Ones to Watch program. She has recently joined the Screen Australia Gender Matters Taskforce and was formerly the Investment Manager of Online Production at Screen Australia. \n\n\n\nWhat’s Creative Plus Business?We’re a social enterprise dedicated to educating creative people and arts organisations about business skills. We help through sharing practical knowledge in a fun and irreverent way\, and everything we do is designed to help creatives to feel more confident and comfortable about the entrepreneurial aspects of their creative practice.
