There’s nothing natural about the 9 to 5 of work, especially for women. The modern world of business was devised a century ago by men who usually had wives and offices and rarely had to worry about domestic duties. Today’s women are still expected to squash themselves uncomfortably into a version of ‘work’ that they had nothing to do with inventing. What would business look like if women could create the world from scratch? Rip it all apart and start again? Would a female-identified perspective change the way we approach processes or systems? Would our work be more inclusive of caring responsibilities? Could we dispense with the notion of work-life balance, because we’d figured it all out?Or would it be exactly the same?
