SUNSHINE COAST: I Hate Networking

November 6 @ 5:30 pm 7:30 pm AEST

Facilitated by CREATIVE PLUS BUSINESS as part of Sunshine Coast Council’s MadeSC Professional Development Program.

Networking is a necessity in the creative industries, but many practitioners consider it to be the stuff of nightmares.

‘I Hate Networking’ is an entertaining hybrid between traditional in-person workshop and social event designed to encourage creative people to get to know each other, while acknowledging the horror, and sharing a few tips at the same time. The first half is dedicated to learning the most effective strategy for effective networking, including preparation and follow up. The second half is a practical opportunity to rehearse some of these tips in a safe and friendly environment, while embracing the discomfort of the whole process and having a laugh.

What’s Creative Plus Business?
We’re a social enterprise dedicated to educating creative people and arts organisations about business skills. We help through sharing practical knowledge in a fun and irreverent way, and everything we do is designed to help creatives to feel more confident and comfortable about the entrepreneurial aspects of their creative practice. We believe that a bit of naughtiness, tempered with a kind heart and a big dose of professionalism, is the key to helping creative people understand the boring basics of business.

What is MadeSC?
MadeSC is a creative and professional development program that supports independent artists, creative businesses and arts organisations across the Sunshine Coast to develop, create, connect and present. The program is designed to strengthen professional practice and industry connections, support new work and link participants with presentation and career development opportunities.
