Business and strategic planning is undoubtedly one of the most important issues when starting and running a business or creative enterprise, but finding a starting point for all those ideas can be real problem. This practical online workshop addresses the reasons why planning is so important, and the best way to start the process.
We’ll also look at the unique nature of an arts-based business, enterprise or not-for-profit, including how to allow room for creative and personal needs as well as your business. Through this course you will learn the four main sections of the plan, and how to complete them, as well as get the chance to have your plan evaluated by a professional.
The four main sections of the business/strategic plan are:
- ADMIN AND MANAGEMENT – Who is running the show, what are you selling, what’s your structure and how does that make a different, and other exciting areas such as insurance and risk management;
- FINANCES – How much will this show cost to run? How much will you charge for your goods and services? What other sources of funding can you access, such as grants or loans?
- MARKETING – How are you going to promote your business and sell your wares? Who is interested in buying from you, and most importantly – why?
- THE FUTURE – What are your short- and long-terms goals for this enterprise? Where do you see yourself in 3, 6, 12 months, and five years – and how are you going to get there?

You will also receive a simple and easy-to-use Creative Business Strategic Plan template to work through during the course.
