Online: AGDA Skills School – Better Brainstorming

Great ideas rarely happen by accident.

Whether you’re working in a studio, in-house or as a freelancer, creative thinking is part of the job. But when deadlines are tight, feedback is flying and the obvious ideas have already been exhausted, it can be hard to find a fresh way forward.

This is an interactive workshop that explores practical techniques for generating stronger ideas, solving creative problems and helping teams think differently. Drawing on methods used by creative leaders around the world as well as illustration, improv and lateral thinking, you’ll discover new ways to move beyond the traditional brainstorm.

Together we’ll explore how to:

* Move beyond sticky notes and conventional brainstorming techniques.
* Reframe problems by asking better questions instead of chasing immediate answers.
* Use play, curiosity and experimentation to unlock fresh ideas.
* Apply techniques like “What If?” and “Yes, And…” to encourage lateral thinking.
* Use simple frameworks, including the T Sheet, to generate, organise and communicate ideas

This is a practical, hands-on session where you’ll try each technique for yourself and leave with a toolkit of creative thinking exercises you can use with your team, your clients or on your own projects.

Whether you’re leading workshops, solving complex design challenges or simply looking for new ways to spark ideas, you’ll leave with practical approaches you can start using straight away.

Who is presenting?
Monica Davidson – Monica Davidson is an award-winning expert on the creative industries, who began her professional life as a freelance journalist, performer, and filmmaker. Monica has a Masters degree in Screen Arts and Business from AFTRS, and was appointed as Australia’s first Creative Industries Business Advisor in 2013. In 2016 Monica founded the social enterprise Creative Plus Business, an organisation dedicated to educating creatives about small business skills, financial literacy and marketing.
