Art Business Basics

The Visual Arts + Design Course. Presented in partnership with NAVA.   nava_logo_215

Thank you. I did your Business Basics course through NAVA a little over a year ago now and I have been taking little steps from that business plan which have created some awesome opportunities along the way that I have been able to grab and run with.  All this is making a solid path behind me to build on and helping me navigate my future directions. – Stephanie Fynn, Illume Interactive

This online course will enable participants to establish a business approach to your career as a visual or media artist, craft or design practitioner by helping you to manage the practical everyday business requirements of your practice and build your business confidence. Tutored by Monica Davidson, the source offers business skills training specifically tailored to the creative arts. Monica is an expert in helping creative people work in the arts and make money by creating sustainable businesses. Topics covered include:

  • the ins and outs of becoming a sole trader
  • taxation for creative practitioners
  • tips for contract development and negotiation
  • rights and restrictions
  • the development of short and long term art business plans, as the major project.

As a course participant you will connect online on a daily basis, much like email, and complete a set of activities that will contribute to establishing yourself as an artist in business. By the end of the course you will have a practical and complete business plan for your arts practice.
